
With its 36 meters of height, the medieval tower of Barbaresco is the most impressive of the whole Piedmont, built around the year 1000 to defend the land against the advancing Saracens. It is recommended to visit it on a bright day, to appreciate the 360° view on the hills of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato and on the entire alpine range behind.

For over a thousand years, the Castle of Grinzane Cavour has stood on the highest hill in the homonymous town, a magnificent example of medieval architecture in Langhe. Home to the Enoteca Regionale del Piemonte, the castle was the residence of the Renaissance statesman Camillo Benso di Cavour, and currently houses the Museum of Rural Life.

The Royal Castle of Govone is a UNESCO heritage site, and was the summer residence of the Savoy family. The exquisite baroque architecture is attributed to Filippo Juvarra, while Carlo Felice commissioned to add the majestic scissor staircase, rich in neoclassical sculptures and caryatids, and the frescoes in the Ballroom by Luigi Vacca.
